Toledo Volleyball Club is proud to note that Maurissa Leonard, 2015 TVC alum and current University of Toledo Libero, has been named Mid-America Cconference Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row. For her outstanding and sustained conference play, Maurissa has also earned Rocket of the Week accolades.

Rocket's Head Coach, Greg Smith, commented, "Maurissa had another outstanding week defensively! She continues to work hard and progress each week which is great to see."

Maurissa tied her personal-best with a team-high 32 digs vs. Western Michigan on Oct. 2nd. Then, against Northern Illinois the next night, Leonard led the Rockets with 21 digs. Even as a young Rockets line-up continues to fight for conference victories, Maurissa currently leads the MAC with 5.82 dps (digs per set) in conference play and has recorded only 11 reception errors on the season (.16 per set). Maurissa is a great example of the importance a solid ball control presence can make, something TVC strives for with all our athletes when we train.

We are excited that Maurissa is staying in the TVC family this spring and will be coaching a club team. Visit our open house, Oct. 25th from 2-5pm to learn more!

Cheer on Maurissa and the Rockets this Friday as they travel up to Yipsilanti, MI to face Eastern Michigan at 7p.m.
