At what age can kids start playing volleyball?
What is the schedule?
I'm not sure if we can fit it all in...

In the last year at TVC, Sydney and I have worked hard to continually run programs with some consistency & predictability, especially with our youth training (14 and under). There is a huge movement right now to grow the game of volleyball. In an Olympic year, its a little easier to gain exposure because high level volleyball is more readily available to potential players and their parents! Whether its VolleyTot Clinics (ages 4 to 8 years), Youth & Jr. High clinics and leagues (3rd-8th Grade) or expanding the game to male players (in the works for fall 2017), we are constantly looking to "grow the game".

I grew up with volleyball as a constant part of my life. I attended my first match at 10 days old (per my mom), watched my sister at college matches at Kansas State and later Ball State, and attended hundreds of matches in my mom's near 25 year tenure as a varsity coach at Adams Central High School in Monroe, Indiana. I want other kids to be able to able to find and experience a passion for something like I have for the game of volleyball. For them, it may not be volleyball or even a sport at all but its still important to test out new things on their journey! It is with this same desire to grow the game that Director, Michelle Hills, and my fellow Associate Director, Sydney Antonio and I can up with our mission statement last fall:

Empower young athletes to grow through discipline, commitment, and teamwork.

In a fast paced world where kids are sometimes scheduled every which way, TVC has made a concerted effort to listen to the feedback we receive from the families we serve. While most love the training we provide, sometimes the number of weekends spent traveling out of town can be an issue, particularly at the younger ages. With this in mind, we have combined our "in-house" league experience with a light travel experience at our U9 & U10 level, referred to as 10-Nike, and our U11 level, referred to as 11-Nike.

These teams will begin practice in January, compete in our Winter league--6 weeks of play on Monday nights in place of practice--and attend three tournaments (five for U11) ending with Ohio Valley Region Championships in May.

We are proud to announce that these teams will be led by some highly qualified coaches who share our passion for the game! Lake High School Varsity Coach, Amy Vorst (pictured left), will be back for a second year as our 11-Nike Head Coach. Former TVC coach and current Perrysburg High School Varsity Coach and Dean of Students, Laura Davidson, is back and will be our 10-Nike Head Coach. Laura's Husband, Mark, is also a former TVC coach and will coach 10-Nike as well.

Coaches Laura & Mark Davidson have this to say about returning to TVC, "We are excited to be back as TVC coaches at the younger levels. We believe in being fair & positive, bringing our knowledge, tradition and love for the game of volleyball back to the best club in the area. TVC is home for us and for many generations of great volleyball players to come!"
