2008 TVC Team Levels

The most competitive level of team at TVC is our National Team.  The teams will travel extensively to the most competitive tournaments with the goal of qualifying for the Junior Nationals (held in late June/early July in Dallas, TX).  We plan to have a National Team at each age level beginning at 12’s.  All teams will have a head coach and assistant coach.  Regardless of whether the team qualifies, they will play in a season ending tournament in June-with the exception of 12-1 and 18-1.

The second level of teams at TVC will be our Mizuno Teams.  This was formerly our #2 National Teams.  They will play a nationally competitive schedule and will attempt to qualify for Nationals. If they do not qualify, their season will end in May.  We expect the Mizuno teams to be highly competitive.  All teams will have a head coach and assistant.  We will determine at tryouts if each age group has the appropriate talent level for a Mizuno team.  The plan now is to offer this level from 13-18.

The third level of teams are the Regional teams.  These teams will travel to tournaments throughout the Ohio Valley Region.  Their season ends with the regional championships in Columbus in mid-May.  Regional Teams practice twice a week for 2 hours. This is an excellent level of competition for players who play another spring sport or have other obligations.  We expect to field 1 - 2 club/regional teams at each age level beginning at 12.

         The fourth level of teams are the Early Bird teams.  These teams will play an abbreviated season that begins in December and ends at the end of February.  This level is designed for the spring sport athlete who still wants to play competitive volleyball. Provided there is the interest level, we will offer early bird teams for the 14’s-18’s.

The fifth level is TVC Blue.   This is a DEVELOPMENTAL level of team offered for ages 13 and under teams only.  The training for these teams will be directed by long time TVC coach and private lesson instructor, Melissa Mugler.   The majority of the tournaments will be in the Toledo area.  The local teams will also end their season at the regional championships in Columbus in May.  We expect to field between 4 - 6 local teams at the 11, 12 and 13 age levels.  10-1 is considered a TVC Blue team.

The sixth level is the Youth Program.  This program is being coordinated in conjunction with Premier Volleyball Club.  The goal of this program is to reduce the cost associated with playing club volleyball for younger players.  This program will give players all of the benefits of training with TVC without the burden of traveling and playing in all-day events.  The Youth program will begin training in January and end in late April.  Teams in the Youth Program will play in a league housed at Premier Academy and Synergy or the LCRC on Thursday nights.  This is a great way to get introduced to club volleyball.
Youth Teams are for players’ ages 9-12 years old only.  Practice will be twice per week for 1.5 hours. The league will be compiled with teams from TVC and Premier.  The players in the youth program will not be registered with USA Volleyball and will not play in any region sanctioned events.

All Fees include practice facility, coaching fees and travel, tournament entry fees, pre-season skill clinics, December Boot Camp, OVR and USAV Registration (except for youth teams) and Mizuno uniforms.  Teams qualifying for Nationals will pay an additional fee.
